A late arrival at Bart's stable, arriving as a mature six year old, he is one of the few Melbourne Cup winners that was not selected by Bart as a yearling. He went ahead in leaps and bounds, as he got further into his first preparation with Bart, culminating in wins in the Herbert Power Hcp, Mackinnon Stakes and of course, Bart's 11th Melbourne Cup in 1999.
