An exciting galloper of the highest order, Beau Zam was a Class racehorse who could produce an amazing sprint - no matter what the distance. He won the 1988 Group 1 AJC Derby in a canter by 5 1/2 lengths and was the first horse in Australiasia to win more than $2m. Beau Zam won four Group 1 races, two Group 2 races inlcuding the first International racing of the Group 1 WFA Tancred STakes over 2400m; and he was a Group winner from the 1400m Apollo Stakes to the 2400m Tancred Stakes. He was possessed of a rare brand of acceleration and was one of the best horses through Leilani Lodge. It was a fitting finale for this super colt's winning streak to finish with a last win beating Bonecrusher before Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II at Canberra.
